One Laptop Per Child Advert

Many of you have probably heard of the one laptop per child charity who wish to distribute computers to all the children in the world. The vision behind the one laptop per child is to empower the children in poor countries to be able to get engaged in their own learning by being given the tools to do so.

The one laptop per child charity has built a spectacular advert using the late John Lennon (with consent from his widow Yoko Ono) this advert is short but really gets the point across by promoting the "XO Computer".

What I like about this advert is its clever use of the late John Lennon and the fact that it is such a good cause.

Norwich Union - Aviva Advert

Norwich Union is embarking on a name change to Aviva. To support this name change Norwich Union, or should I now say Aviva, has commissioned an advert to support the name change and give a great reason for the change.

The advert follows a few celebrities through their past with them today sitting along side saying how changing their name helped making them famous....did you know that Bruce Willis name is really Walter Willis???

A great advert and well dont to Aviva (supported by their advertising machine) for this masterpiece.

Learning and Skills Council 'Hands' Advert

The Learning and Skills Council run by the British government has been advertising quite a lot recently to get older folk to go back into learning to learn what they didnt in their youth. This learning may be maths, english and so much more.

What I love is that the Learning and Skills Council have took a very interesting and memorable way of getting its point across by using hands as their actors!

Just look at the Learning and Skills Council Hands advert below.

Berocca So Tall Advert

Berocca is a company I had never heard of until I saw their advert. This advert is great and keeps a reminder of the company name in my mind!

The advert plays on the music video for a band that were made famous after posting their music video on Youtube. Im sure you all remember the dance routine carried out on treadmills?

Well this advert has the treadmill and dancers to boot, this time out in public with the chorus of a great backing track by Blancmange called living on the ceiling.

Chorus of the Blancmange - living on the ceiling song

And I'm so tall, I'm so tall
You raise me and then you let me fall
I'm so small, I'm so small
Wrap me round your finger, see me fall
Here we go

Knock Off Nigel Advert

The United Kingdom government and its supporting regulatory bodies wanted to crack down on film piracy so decided to create some adverts showing people that they should not sell copied DVD's.

The advert is centered around a man in an office who is working away when everyone starts singing about knock off Nigel downloading knock off films. These were a series of adverts that went on to show how downloading and/or selling knock off films is a criminal activity that can support serious crime and even fund terrorism.

Tomb Raider Underworld Advert

Tomb Raider and Lara Croft, yes the amazing game with the most beautiful pixelated woman that has had mens hearts racing for over a decade is back with breathtaking results.

Tomb Raider has its new instalment called Tomb Raider: Underworld. This game carries with it an amazing video showing the game in motion, this advert is shown like a film montage with an amazing supporting soundtrack that really makes the advert come alive.

I love this advert and its smooth transition through the "film montage", this is a must see advert.

Country Life Butter Advert

Who would ever have thought that a butter advert makes it into the great advert blog of fame!

Country life butter has really gone to town with their latest instalments of adverts by using Johnny Rotten from the sex pistols (real name John Lydon) to sell their butter, with admirable results.

This advert is about why John Lydon buys country life butter, not because its made in Great Britain but because its Great Butter!!!

This advert is funny and a must watch, well done country life butter.

Baileys - Slow Mo Advert

I saw this advert many months ago on the TV but something in my mind clicked and I remembered this one last night.

When the advert starts you think "Oh the typical attractive woman routine" but when the advert moves along you are pleasantly surprised and amused by the outcome.

This advert is a great piece of advertising by Baileys, I think what supports the advert further is the great music that accompanies it. The music is 'Boom Pacha Boom' by 'Billy Byrd and his Penguins'.

Heres the song if your interested

Haribo Interrogation Advert

Haribo are not a company I normally associate with great adverts but I feel the latest addition to their marketing drive does deserve recognition!

It centres on a father being interrogated by his son and daughter for eating all the eggs in their Haribo starmix (Eggs are my favourites). What I like about this advert is the acting by the little girl she makes me laugh.

This is a great advert and I think it is one that makes you remember the product.

McDonalds - The Great Escape

The McDonalds has released a Christmas advert advertising the big cheese with bacon, chicken fiesta and festive pie.

This McDonalds advert is called the great escape and is all about a man playing charades with his family who gets bored and decides he needs something to eat...hell why not McDonalds hey!

What makes me laugh in this advert is the Gran, watch out for her answers to the game of charades, its a classic!

Call of Duty 5: World At War

Call of duty has a big series of amazing games that have done well so its not surprising that their advertising machine produces great adverts!

They have two adverts centering on the main game play of war. Each advert has a narrator on talking about the enemy with a different mantra, one side of an English speaking army, the other of an accented enemy who uses the final words "You are my enemy and if I am going to die Im going to take you with me".

This Call of duty advert is a great advertising masterpiece even though each advert is only around thirty three seconds in length.

Enemy army

English speaking army

Rachel Stevens - Testicular Cancer

Rachel Stevens and testicular cancer, not what I would have expected to see in the same sentence. Everyman have launched a campaign for mens health on testicular cancer and have managed to include the beautiful Rachel Stevens in its advert.

Now as far as testicular cancer is concerned this is something all men do not want to think about but this amazing advert will easily catch the eye of all men that watch it. This advert has a subtle sexual tone with an amusing joke midway that really made it fun and interesting to me....well that and Rachel Stevens!

Barclaycard Waterslide Advert - Let Your Love Flow

Barclaycard has struck again! Barclaycard have made the best advert I have ever seen for enjoyment factor. I love this advert and think it was an amazing idea.

This advert is a man who finishes work and takes a waterslide across london to get home, he swipes his card on his journey through a shop, the tube etc....this is a must see and even though I have seen this advert thousands of times now I always stop to watch it as it brings a smile to my face.

Barclaycard Waterslide Advert - Let Your Love Flow

Adidas Advert

This Adidas advert is great, it plays on the motto "Impossible is nothing" and starts with a man walking in the street and as he goes everyone keeps climbing on his shoulders.

While people are climbing on top of this man walking in Adidas trainers the song "Hes got the whole world in his hands" is playing in the background.

I love this Adidas advert and think Adidas really did well with this great piece of advertising.

Tui Beer Advert

As usual its an advert for alcohol that's hit the site today. Today its the Tui beer advert, a wonderful piece of advertising clearly for the male market.

This Tui beer advert plays on the fact that the beer is too irresistible to men so they are no longer allowed to work in the brewery as they drink the production line. The Tui beer is now brewed entirely by a female workforce....did I forget to mention that they are a beautiful female workforce!

This is a funny and interesting Tui beer advert and one that is certainly worthy of going in to the annuals of a great alcohol advert.

Microsoft Advert

Microsoft are not reknowned for their adverts, but this Microsoft advert for the German market really is a good one.

There are many rumours that this advert was banned but fortunately for Microsoft this advert was not banned and aired on German TV for a while.

I do believe there were English versions of this advert so it could be played in other countries.

Well done Microsoft on a great advert worthy enough to be added to our collection.

Citroen Advert - The Transformer

Citroen unveiled some amazing adverts over 2006 to present that featured a Citroen transformer. In the different adverts the transformer skated on ice, danced and skidded around a barrier on the bend of a road.

These Citroen adverts are amazing to watch and it is clear that great effort has gone in to the effects of the transformer.

The idea behind the Citroen advert is that Citroens are "Alive with technology" hence the transforming Citroen becoming alive and doing different things, these are impressive and clever adverts.

Barclay Card Advert

Who ever would have thuoght that I would be posting an advert for a financial company as an interesting and great advert, especially for Barclays!

Blarclay card have really done well in their latest mini series of adverts using Stephen Mangan and Julian Rhind-Tut from the Green Wing in their latest group of adverts. These Barclays adverts are a barrel of laughs with one playing the organised traveller with his Barclay card and the other playing his friend who is a bit more care free and keeps getting himself in to trouble.....trouble a Barclay card could save.

This Barclay card advert has me in fits of laughter everytime I see it, especially the bit when he actually smiles at the camera.....watch it and you will see what I mean.

Fotoprix advert - Spain

Fotoprix made an amazing advert for the Spanish market to show that they make "The best pictures at the best price". The only problem with this Fotoprix advert was that it was banned, why Ill never know!

This clever peice of advertising centres on a woman standing looking at herself just wearing a bra, the advert has little comments saying no huge ones , no plastic surgery, no silicon, you'll look 30% better, after this you see her move the photo covering her chest to reveal that her chest is smaller.

This is definately and advert to watch and is a genius idea, pity this Fotoprix advert was banned but at least we here at Greatadverts have a copy for you to watch.

Cravendale Advert

Cravendale milk have made some great and interesting adverts but the Cravendale advert below certainly is my favourite.

The Cravendale advert was for their new "Hint of" range where the milk had a hint of a strawberry taste, the advert aired in 2006.

The advert is layed out much like an old scary B movie and this is the reason why I think it was so effective as it really engaged and intrigued its audience.

I remember this advert well and think Cravendale did an amazing job of advertising milk as it is not the most interesting of products to advertise.

Malibu Melon Advert

Malibu is seriously easy going due to its laid back Caribbean roots....or so you thought. This brilliant Malibu advert shows the Caribbean lifestyle in a humorous light mocking us westerners, its really funny.

The advert centres on a market stall selling melons but plays on the western style of much choice, many queues with queue numbers for service, saying customer service is the most important thing but doing the opposite and having "display purposes only" melons.

This advert is a great show of advertising prowess as it really is one you remember, is very fun and makes you associate it with Malibu.

Malibu advert

Weetabix Robin Hood Advert

Weetabix have always tried to create interesting and funny adverts but none have ever beaten their 1991 Weetabix advert featuring Robin Hood.

This Weetabix advert plays on the fact that Robin Hood always managed to beat the evil Sheriff of Nottingham by Robin Hood actually being defeated in this advert.

The advert starts with Robin Hood riding with his band of men to free his lady from the Sheriffs tower only to see the Sheriff of Nottingham eating Weetabix which makes him retreat.

Not only is the advert funny because of the story line, it is made even more amusing by the accompanying song which is below with the advert.

Robin Hood, Robin Hood riding through the glen,
Robin Hood, Robin Hood with his band of men,
Feared by the bad, loved by the good,
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood,
Robin Hood, Robin Hood could be in a fix
Robin Hood, Robin Hood spies the Weetabix
Does he retreat back to Sherwood,
Coz he should, coz he should, coz he should,

Specsavers Advert

Specsavers have struck again. Not long ago I published the Specsavers dog shearing advert which was a huge success for Specsavers on the UK market, now Specsavers have gone one better with the news chainsaw advert.

This new advert is like a mini scary movie with electricity starting to go off all over a town and people becoming worried and wondering whats going on, this happens along with great backing music. At the end of the advert you find that a logger who cannot see very well has not only used his chainsaw to cut down trees, he has cut down wooden electricity pylons too.

This is a great advert and a must to watch, well done Specsavers.

Boddingtons - The Body Advert

Boddingtons had a range of adverts quite a few years back that starred Melanie Sykes, a beautiful woman with a very common Britisg accent. The use of Melanie Sykes in Boddingtons adverts worked extremely well to hit the market of the average man.

My favourite of these adverts is called "The body" where you see men with great bodies showing feats of strength and posing as Melanie walks round with her sultry looks, that is until she sits down and says "If you think thats strong chuck then try lifting one of these" and lifts a pint of Boddingtons. Not forgetting that she then takes the mick out of one of the fellas with big muscles and tight pants.

This is a great piece of advertising and Boddingtons did well from this one.

Carling Advert - The Crab

This Carling advert was first broadcast in February 2002 and was a talking point among many. The advert was to advertise Carling Black Label...the normal Carling cans bought in shops today.

The advert plays on a man stranded on a desert island after a plane crash, he wakes to find a crab in front of him and the crab shows him a fridge full of Carling. The fridge is warm as it is not connected to any electricity so the man and crab work together to get some electricty running and then the man kicks back to relax and drink a Carling.

The advert ends with.....well watch it to find out.

This is a great Carling advert, one of many great adverts Carling have produced.

Cadburys Creme Egg Mass Goo-icide

Cadburys creme eggs are probably my favourite chocolate along with Smarties and when I saw this Cadburys creme egg advert I thought, well done Cadburys.

I remember the days when Cadburys creme eggs only came out near easter and I would have to wait a year to get my hands on one again, but thankfully this is not the case today!

There have been a mini series of Cadburys creme egg adverts recently that have really been funny and entertaining but todays advert is advert is my favourite out of all of them.

The idea behind these adverts is to show that the creme egg is more than just a chocolate as it has a gooey but tasty centre. The advert is all about mass goo-icide and shows a host of creme eggs on mouse traps before one egg comes in above them, unwraps itself then jumps in to the crowd causing an onslaught of gooiness...you have to watch it!

Go Ahead Bar Advert

I have just watched an advert on the TV for Go Ahead fruit bars. Now the adverts for low calorie nutritious, healthy bars are normally boring but this Go Ahead advert really did make me smile.

The Go Ahead advert starts with a woman walking along and seeing an ice cream that makes her hungry. She then fights with a pink teddy that is acting as her hunger and she starts losing the battle, that is until she pulls out her Go Ahead bar and eats it.

Watch the video for yourself and tell me what you think!

Scampi Fries - The Sweet Smell Of Success

This Scampi Fries advert was one that had many rolling in laughter but also caused complaints to be written. If memory serves correctly there was a total of 61 complaints about this advert.

I wont ruin the ending for you but the title of this post gives you an idea to work from. I imagine that who ever thought of this Scampi Fries advert was in fits of laughter and sitting in a pub with their friends getting drunk.

To me this is an advert that the male species will enjoy more than the females and I think that the company behind this Scampit Fries advert have really engaged the younger male audience with this advertising masterpiece.

I give a big thumbs up for this advert.....or should that be fingers!!

Specsavers Sheep Dog Shearing advert

Specsavers has had a recent run of interesting "should have gone to Specsavers" adverts, these Specsavers adverts have really caught the imagination of the UK public.

The advert plays on a sheep shearer who cant see very well, he is shearing his sheep and when he gets to the end he accidently then shears his sheep dog.

I love this Specsavers advert and thought it was great, although I felt a little sad for the dog at the end lol.

The song in the advert is "Bimse buan ar buairt gach lo" an old Irish song that means, I am constantly depressed every day. Supposedly the song is about bonny prince charles in Scotland and the sadness that the writer felt when he left the country.

Pronto Condoms Advert

Ah the condom adverts, noes that are used to make the use of condoms a subject that is not taboo through the power of laughter or the power of persuasion for men to take more precautions.

I have seen many of these adverts come and go but this South African Pronto condoms advert really made me laugh, also made me think that the lady on the advert is a little too experienced lol.

I think this is a great advert for the South African market given the wide spread number of people who are HIV positive, this pronto condoms advert breaks down boundaries of sex being taboo and really gets the message over in a really quick and funny way.

Kia Ora Advert

Now this Kia Ora advert is one I remember well from my youth and love for its fun but is also one that has caused much debate in recent times.

In the 1980's when this advert came out I was a youth full of boyhood dreams of being a footballer, this advert used to make me smile. Now I watch this advert and feel the wonderful memories of drinking Kia Ora as a child.

What many people now see as an issue with this advert is that some see racial connotations in the advert itself because of the stereotypes each of the characters portray. Personally I don't see these stereotypes and think they are only there if your looking for them, this is just an great Kia Ora.

The song in the advert is "Fido" by Caramba

Here are the words to the advert

"Kia-Ora...
It's too orangey for crows...It's just for me and my dog
I'll be your dog
- barks -
I'll be your dog
Kia-Ora a doggy doggy doggy doggy
Kia-Ora... Arumba
We all adore a Kia-Ora"

Um Bongo Advert

Now the Um Bongo advert really is a blast from the past, I loved this advert as a child and really had a smile on my face when I found the video.

The Um Bongo advert came out in the early 1990's I believe and was a major advertising coup at the time with every man, woman, child and pet dog dancing along and singing the Um Bongo song!

Um Bongo, Um Bongo way down deep in the middle of the congo, a hippo took a grapefruit, a guava & a mango, he mixed with the others & he danced a dainty tango, the rhino said I know we'll call it UM BUNGO

This advert is a wonderful piece of advertising history, if only I could find Um Bongo in the shops today.

Nutri Grain - Elf Baking in Factory

Okay so I couldn't resist, I love these nutri grain adverts sooo much so thought it time to post. These two adverts were aired a few years ago, one promotes the nutri grain bars while the other advertises the nutri grain elevenses bars.

Both adverts follow the same story about the cakey goodness of nutri grain and how they are made by elves in the nutri grain factory, great fun thats what I say!

Heres the first nutri grain advert with none other than the funny actress Alice Barry...

You cant beat the bit where she says "They come out the factory gates at night with the tall hats on doing the kung fu and the bars."

The second follows two men camping outside the nutri grain factory, I just love the guitar song "I saw an elfy hopping along the factory, hopalong elfy, hopalong elfy, elfy mcphee!"

Honda Advert - The Cog

Car adverts seem to be becoming a big theme for Great Advert but I feel this is with great reason.

The car manufacturing business really have to come up with something unique to advertise their vehicles and nothing is more unique than the Honda cog advert from a year or so ago.

The advert starts with a simple cog rolling along the floor before hitting another and a chain of events unfold, each event starts from the previous and makes the next happen very much like a line of dominoes.

In the end the car key is pressed and the Honda rolls off its perch then a narrator says "Isn't it nice when things, just work". This advert is interesting and clever.

It must be said that the advert does not have any graphic additions and it all happened as you see it, although the tyre was weighted to make it roll the way it did. This advert is also very long by advertising standards as it is two minutes in length.

Peugeot Indian Car Commercial

Every man knows what its like to want a car to impress the ladies, so this Peugeot advert really was a hit when it came out.

The Peugeot advert not only shows the lengths a man will go to so he has the ride of his dreams to show off to the ladies but even goes as far as showing the men trawling in the car with music blairing and heads bobbing.

I loved this advert when it came out and still love it now as it really encompasses the male youth today and was a hit with Peugeots target audience.

For those who are interested the song in the advert is Bhangra Knights by Husan.

Winegums - Juice - Loose

Maynard Winegums bought out an advert many, many, many years ago that was a huge hit, every one loved it so in good advertising fashion they remade the advert with a few slight differences not too long ago.

The advert centres on a scottish man in an old house, he eats a winegum and starts giving them to different items in the house, he then dances a bit before saying "theres juice, loose aboot this hoose". This may not sound great but if you watch the advert you will see how fun it is.

This is a simple advert that everyone always remembers, good one Maynards. Oh and I must say I love Winegums too.

Smarties Advert - Blue Is Back

This Smarties advert is a triumph in advertising and for very good reason.

Three years ago the Blue smartie was sacked from his place in the smartie tube (now a hexagonal box...damn you Nestle for changing this I loved the tube). The reason why the blue smartie was removed from the smartie pack was because it was the only smartie that had artificial colours and flavourings and Nestle wanted to market these great little chocolates as having no artificial colours and flavourings.

After three long years where Nestle have been beavernig away in a small laboratory some where BLUE IS BACK, yes Nestle have been able to recreate the blue smartie with no artificial colours and flavourings so it can take its rightful place as the most loved smartie in the box.

The advert to show the return of the blue smartie is a marketing genius and I love it very much. Every time I see this advert I laugh and a little smile is evident to see for a short while after...Well done Nestle.

P.S BRING BACK THE ROUND TUBE NESTLE

Grand Theft Auto 4 Advert

The new Grand Theft Auto 4 advert has hit our screens and I must say I really like it, it is simple yet very effective.

The advert is a well used music soundtrack played over a film of the in game character walking through a city etc.

The move from one screen to another to show different aspects of the game is seamless and the way the character answers his phone and breaks a car window before stealing it at the end is created so well. I think the advert showing the in game graphics is so good you could believe it was a real film!

The great music soundtrack to this Grand Theft Auto 4 advert is by LCD Soundsystem and is called Get Innocuous.

Fridge Raiders

This advert I found annoying at first but this was because I didnt really watch it properly. After giving the advert my attention it has actually grown on me and I like it very much, although I do admit that who ever came up with the idea of the idea is clearly unstable!

I have never heard of fridge raiders before so seeing this advert has built their brand name with me. This fridge raider advert actually starts off quite innocent with a man taking out a packet of fridge raisers from the fridge before eating them as he goes about getting changed, that is until he keeps noticing his body change to that of a werewolf.

The idea behind the advert is that fridge raiders "Bring out your carnivorous side", I think this is a great advert now.

BT Gremlins Advert

This advert is a brand new one and a BIG surprise to me!

BT, thats British Telecom for those who do not know have pulled off a major coup with thier new advert advertising IT support.

This advert shows a man working late at night as other leave the office so he is alone...guess what happens...those pesky computer gremlins strike and cause him to lose the work he is doing. What makes this BT Gremlins advert special is the fact that the computer Gremlins in question are those Gremlins that ran amok in the Hollywood films of the 1980's, the advert even has the supporting Gremlin music!

This is an amazing advert that made me want to come and post it straight away, all I can say is WELL DONE BT and to you folks, enjoy :D

Nicorette Inhalator Advert

This little Nicorette advert gem only came on to the UK television screens in the past week. at first you wonder what the hell the advert is about but it all becomes clear later on in the advert.

The advert starts off with a man twiddling many things in his hands like a keys or a drinking straw but it all becomes clear at the end of the advert when you see the man take out a Nicorette inhalator and start sucking on it.

What really made this advert for me was the great use of music and the final scene where....haha Im not going to ruin it for you, watch the advert for yourself below.

A Cigar Called Hamlet Advert

This advert is so simple yet so effective. Anyone in the UK will remember the famous Hamlet adverts that ran in the late 1980's to early 1990's and this one was probably the best of the lot.

All the Hamlet adverts during this time were starred by famous British comedians and none is better than the star of Rab C. Nesbitt, Gregor Fisher.

It may just be us British that find this advert funny, even though it is so simple it carries a strong advertising message that can really be felt when watching this amazing advert.

To me this is what you call the perfect advert, there is no technical magic or high paid hollywood actor. This advert is simply a comedian on a chair nothing more and nothing less yet the advert keeps you riveted.

Toyota Swingers Party

My sister found this advert and bought it to my attention, this little advertising beauty from Toyota was aired quite a few years ago now but was a powerful advert when it graced our television screens.

This Toyota advert really tapped in to the 30+ market by playing on the legend of swinger parties where the males car keys are placed in a bowl and a woman picks out a key, who ever owns the car for that set of keys is her "Man" for the evening.

What made this advert so great was the way it was played by ALL men standing up when the "Least attractive" female pulled out the keys to a Toyota.

Clever advertising that made the Toyota look appealing and sexy to its target audience, well done Toyota...oh and it certainly gave me a laugh too.

The Banned Xbox Advert

Back at the very birth of the Xbox an advert was created and played on British television, before long many complaints had been written about the advert and it was banned to the sandbox of television archives.

This Xbox advert was a great play on enjoying life as its too short and really did use great graphics to get this across, unfortunately there were a few out in the world that thought it was creepy and morbid. Well, well I have searched high and low and found the advert in question so you can all feast your eyes on one of the very first Xbox adverts to grace our screens.

I personally feel this advert was a triumph as it really got people talking so the name Xbox was known by anyone and everyone.

Do you think this advert is creepy and morbid? Or like me do you think it was a triumph in advertising for the Xbox?

Lynx - One for the Boys

This Lynx advert didnt make it on to the television for long but did manage a long period on the big screen as an advert prior to films starting. What stopped this advert from playing on the television I will never know!!!

This Lynx advert is definately one for the lads, it is literally every mans fantasy to have this happen....imagine thousands of scantily dressed women running after you, yep your attention and nothing else.

This is an epic of an advert really given the intensity of the thousands of scantily clad women running through forests, over hills, swimming oceans and the like just to get to one man spraying his Lynx....this is why they call it the Lynx effect!!!

For those that don't know the brand Lynx this may be because it is called Axe in other countries.

Man watch this advert and tell me you are not jealous!!!

Oh nearly forgot, for those of you not interested in half naked women the music is "Dies Irae" by Karl Jenkins.

WKD bath advert

WKD, short for Wicked, have been creating a group of different adverts on the theme of people having a wicked side. These adverts have seen groups of men playing pranks on each other to show how W-K-D they can be.

This new advert is one my wife thinks is very funny and plays on a man having a wicked side against his wife. The advert starts with a woman relaxing in a nice bath with 1980's music playing on her small portable music player when her husband walks in, says "Sorry love" before pulling his pants down and sitting on the toilet for an eeer, erm....well you get the picture :)

I wonder whats in store for the next installment of WKD adverts!

Nestle Rolo Advert

For those of you who do not know, Rolo's are chocolates that are round in shape and were first cought on to the market in 1938 by Rowntrees of York.

This advert was broadcast in the mid 1990's and it is one I had forgot about until my sister stumbled across it last weekend. Once I saw it I remembered it straight away, I always thought this advert was quite interesting and funny so thought it would make a great addition to the collection!

Rolo adverts for the past decade and more have always played on the plot of loving someone enough to give them your last Rolo. Although some of Nestle Rolo's adverts have been slightly engaging, this one has always been my favourite.

Snickers - Get Some Nuts

Now Mr. T used to be a legend in my youth when he was in the A Team, now it is rare to see him in an advert so I was shocked, amazed and in awe when I saw Mr. T in this Snickers advert.

This Snickers advert starts off with a group of men playing football (Soccer to all my American chums out there) when a player falls down and plays on being hurt, the camera then flashes to a tank flying down the road crushing cars before stopping with the gun turret just inches from the players head.

What happens next is Mr. T comes out of the top of the tank then tells the football player to stop moaning, get some nuts (great play on words there) before he meets his friend PAAIN and throws a snickers at his head. After this he speeds off in his big tank....hell just watch this great Snickers advert before you meet my friend PAAAIN

RAF - Flying Objects Advert

I think this RAF advert is ingenious, although the idea is lost on many I think the message being sent out is great.

The message behind this RAF advert is that it might onyl take one pilot to fly a fighter plane but it takes a great many different people in different jobs to get a fighter plane off the ground.

The RAF have really done themselves proud with this advert and I can see how this advert could really get a young persons mind thinking about joining the British Royal Air Force.

I have to admit though, when I first saw this advert I thought I had flicked in to the middle of some sci fi kind of film, in fact the film Enemy of the state sprang to mind!

Its one great advert and the RAF should take their hats off for this one!!

Orangeman - You've Been Tangoed

This is one funny advert that was shown on British television back in 1992. The advert is for the soft drink Tango. Tango made a series of these adverts for each flavour of their soft drinks and all entitled you've been tangoed, some of which will feature later in Great Advert.

This particular Tango advert shows a boy just taking a sip of his can of orange Tango when a little man in orange comes up and slaps him round the face. I just love seeing the boys face when it is played back in slow motion with commentary before the final credit says "You know when you've been Tangoed".

I do apologise for the video being grainy but it is an advert that is sixteen years old. One thing I will say is that this is such a simple advert that makes such a big impact.

Mars Advert - The Monks

I only saw this Mars advert yesterday and was in fits of laughter, this is a great advert and really is one that you remember.

This advert starts off with bells ringing in the distance from a monastery set in the country side, once the camera cuts inside you see the monks eating a mars before starting to ring the bells some more, it is only then that the Cypress Hill music starts and the monks start using the bell ringers to play big time!

This Mars advert is a great show of advertising as it makes you laugh and remember the product the advert is about.

What do you think? I thought this advert was ingenious, monks in a bell tower jumping around to Cypress Hill....who ever thought of this is a clever person.

I do have to say my wife says her favourite is the older man with the beard as he looks so innocent even when he is jumping around!!

Guinness - Surfer Advert

Guinness is well known for the amazing adverts that it creates to advertise its Irish stout, but the Guiness advert I have chosen for today is probably the most memorable from all those it has commissioned.

Created in 1999 the Guinness advert entitled the Surfer was based upon an earlier TV and cinema advert from the 1980's which showed a surfer riding a wave. To take this further the advert below shows surfers go in to the sea and ride a wave with white horses thundering overhead out of the water.

In 2000 this advert was named as the best television advertisment of all time by Channel 4 and a leading British newspaper.

The song in the advert is called "Phat Planet" and is by the well known UK Dance group called Leftfield.

From what I understand the surfer was not anyone famous, he was literally found surfing at a beach and asked if he would play the part.

The advert was created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and can be downloaded from their website to do so click here.

Cadburys Gorilla Advert

This Cadburys advert was on the TV in the United Kingdom back in August 2007 and was an instant hit. What makes this advert so interesting is the fact that the content has nothing to do with what it is advertising BUT that it got everyone talking.

I think what really worked for this advert is that the colour scheme in the background is synonymous with Cadburys, the music from Phil Collins was cleverly chosen and that the person playing the Gorilla did it so well. If you watch the Gorilla sitting in anticipation then busrsting in t live, it is just magic.

This Cadburys advert is one that you will remember for a long time, Cadburys certainly did well with choosing this for their advertising campaign.

SureCheck Pregnancy Test Advert

This SureCheck advert caught my eye the other day and it dawned on me I had seen the advert about two years ago when I was in Bulgaria with my wife. I thought it was really funny as it is advertising the SureCheck pregnancy test (the things in their arms that look like weapons are the tests), whats even funnier is the song they are singing.

Here are the translated words to this advert...

You are waking up in the early dawn
You torture yourself and you wonder why its late
This is worrying you alot
Test, test, test SureCheck

If there is one line
Did you hear well, one line
Its a valid test
George is innocent

If there are two lines,
We will repeat two lines,
Ring him quickly,
You are already pregnant
Test, test, test SureCheck

Smirnoff Vodka Strikes Again

When I first saw this advert I thought it was one of those great Guinness adverts but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually a Smirnoff Vodka advert.

I would love to say that there are a great many hardened Russian drinkers in the Smirnoff head quarters somewhere deep in a large Russian city somewhere thinking about what they have achieved with this advert but unfortunately the owner of Smirnoff is the British drinks company Diageo.

Smirnoff have really surpassed themselves with this marvel in advertising, I think this advert is spectacular and really memorable for all the right reasons. Who ever came up with this idea deserves a great pat on the back as it certainly shows what Smirnoff is really made off.

I have to admit that I am a lover of history and this advert certainly brings history to life in an amazing way with these old ships and spitfires raising from the sea.

Volkswagen Polo - The Singing Dog

Now this is a new advert and one thats working wonders for car manufacturer VW (Volkswagen). This incredible skit showing a dog singing and briming with confidence while in the new Volkswagen Polo but nervous and shy while out side the comfort of this car is a masterpiece in advertising when mixed with the music.

Here are the words to the song the dog is singing, the song is called "I'm a man" by the Spencer Davis Group!

Well my pad is very messy
And there's whiskers on my chin
And I'm all hung up on music
And I always play to win
I ain't got no time for lovin'
Cause my time is all used up
Just to sit around creatin'
All that groovy kind of stuff.
I'm a man
Yes I am
And I can't help
But love you so
I'm a man
Yes I am
And I can't help
But love you so.

Macbook Air Advert

The Macbook Air is a new laptop from Apple. Not only does the Macbook Air come with a bundle of great software, it also has a sleek design that makes this laptop the thinnest on the market....so thin in fact that it fits in to an envelope as the advert below shows.

I think what makes this advert special is the accompanying music from Yael Naim, a french singer. The song is entitled "New soul".

Out of Ten...how do you rate this great advert, it is simple yet very effective....its one you certainly remember!
